Recently I blogged about duck hunting and everything there is to know about the sport. I recently added a new addition to my family with the purchase of a yellow lab puppy. With the joy of owning a new dog comes great responsibility. Its like a child needs to be walked, played with, fed, water, and many other things.
The first couple of nights have been really hard. I have maybe slept all of 2 hours. I first started keeping her in the box in my room hoping that it would help keep her quiet and to be inside of the house. But was I wrong, when I bought her she was quiet and kept to herself. Wow, 1230, 1,3,5, and 645 were not times I would like to be up and the other times I was begging for her to stay asleep. My parents have four dogs and I helped raise them as well but nothing like this little monstor. I bought the dog knowing it was a high drive and excited dog, I was not ready to face this. Right after spring break, getting into school, and ready to wrap up the semester did not include this little puppy I was begging to think.
But after about a week now of yelping, crying, and barking she has finally calmed down. It just took a little longer for her to settle into a pen and box than usual. Now we are napping together and she is still full of energy just at a more welcomed time for me. And sometimes she doesnt care if its 3 in the am she still wants to play. But I am looking forward to raising her and having her around for a long time. Right now is just a small bump in the road. So far she is doing great and taking to the pen very well and now that I have her on some what of a sleeping schedule everything looks great. She has the drive and energy to be a great duck dog and great friend.
I have only one question, whats a good name? its a dark yellow lab, almost a fox red in color female high energy dog. if you would like please leave me some sugguestions. thanks
